Growth Mindset
At Edlesborough, we embrace having a ‘Growth Mindset’ where all our learners are encouraged to continually challenge themselves and, quite literally, grow their brains!
This follows the extensive research of Dr Carol Dweck (see more here) which emphasise the importance of the effort rather than the outcome.
Our wonderful teaching body are trained practitioners in this method and help every child work towards and discover their full potential.
By teaching our pupils behaviours such as resilience and determination we aim to equip them with the vital tools for their life-long learning journey.
Our Learning Behaviours
At Edlesborough, we continually encourage Growth Mindset learning behaviours, such as:
Effort • Commitment • Courage • Resilience• Questioning
Confidence • Endurance • Challenging • Curiosity • Optimism
Perseverance • Determination • Independence • Patience • Thinking
Each Friday in Celebration Assembly, our teachers award one or two children in their class with a Learning Behaviour badge for those who have exhibited this behaviour throughout the week or in one key event. These children’s names are then published in our newsletter for all to see and celebrate!
